DEPARTMENT PURPOSE:
To act as chief deputy clerk for the Family Court judge and to perform filing, processing and
disposition of Family Court cases.
| DESCRIPTION: |
- Initiates and determines processing on 4500 juvenile, 200 termination of parental rights and
500 adoption cases annually.
- Maintains 6000 active legal files including domestic relations, probate, paternity and criminal
cases consolidated with juvenile matters, making docket entries and filing documents in file
and serves as coordinator for transfer and retrieval of closed files.
- Processes Petitions for Adoption preparing summons, publications, certificates of decree of
adoption and scheduling temporary and final hearings.
- Prepares judicial Orders for Judge and Commissioners' signature including Judgment orders
for confirmation.
- Serves as resource for release of information for law enforcement and social service agencies
and requests for certified copies of legal documents.
- Serves as a resource for inquiries about court dates, parties and case status.
- Maintains Family Court Administrative Order procedural books.
