PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
IV-D Mediation: Mediation service available free of charge by Court Specialities for parents involved in IV-D paternity actions where visitation/custody issues are in dispute.
Rule 68.12 Mediation: Mediation service available to parties involved in a dissolution of marriage action, a non IV-D paternity action or a modification of a prior order of custody or visitation where custody and or visitation issues are in dispute. Parties are required to mediate for a minimum of 2 hours. Services may be obtained through FCRS by court order and/or through a receipt of a Form 15
LOCATION/TIME OF SERVICE:
1. Non-IV-D mediations are arranged
by the parties with the mediator they select or that is selected for them.
2. IV-D paternity action mediations are arranged through the office of
Family Court Resource Services. A Family Court Resource Specialist is
assigned to the case. The specialist will work with the parties to determine
an agreed upon time for the mediation. These mediations occur at 3100
Main, Suite 204, Kansas City, Missouri 64111
ACCESS TO SERVICE:
IV-D Mediation:
Court order or Prosecutor referral required. Contact FCRS office at 881-1814.
Rule 68.12 Mediation:
Services may be obtained through FCRS by court order and/or through a receipt of a Form 15. Mediators are selected from the courts list of approved mediators who meet the qualifications established by Supreme Court Rule 88. Fees are assessed on a sliding fee scale based on income. Parties may contact FCRS at 881-1814.
